Getting Started

4 questions
What is URGEFLIP and how does it work?

URGEFLIP adds a short pause when you open apps you choose, giving you a moment to notice an urge and decide what happens next. URGEFLIP is the new website brand for URGEGAP. App screenshots on this website show URGEGAP branding.

Who is URGEFLIP for?

URGEFLIP is designed for people who want to use distracting apps more intentionally.

Is URGEFLIP available on both iOS and Android?

URGEFLIP is designed for Android. Its app protection uses Android permissions to detect selected apps and show the Gap. The current implementation does not include iOS support.

Do I need an account to use the app?

No traditional account is required. URGEFLIP uses a pseudonymous customer identifier for purchases and referral features.

The Gap

4 questions
What is “The Gap”?

It is a brief moment to check in before continuing to a selected app or stepping away.

How is URGEFLIP different from blocking apps?

URGEFLIP adds a pause, then lets you decide whether to continue.

What happens during a pause?

You get a moment to notice the urge and choose your next step.

Can I still open a protected app?

Yes. After the Gap, you can choose to continue in the app.

App Protection

5 questions
Which apps can URGEFLIP protect?

Choose from the supported apps in Protected Apps. Available apps may vary by Android device.

How does app protection work?

On Android, the app detects when a selected app comes to the foreground and presents the Gap.

Can I change my protected apps?

You can change your selected apps in the app settings.

Can I schedule when app protection is active?

Yes. Both Free and Supporter let you choose when protection is active, including recurring days and time windows that cross midnight. Free covers one protected app, while Supporter lets you manage schedules across multiple protected apps. Find Protection schedules in the Apps screen and choose Always On or Scheduled.

What if I turn off the required permission?

The related protection function stops until access is enabled again.

Privacy

4 questions
What information stays on my device?

Your selected apps, settings including protection schedules, pause history, and protection diagnostics are stored on your device.

Does URGEFLIP read my messages?

No. The Android Accessibility service detects which app is in the foreground. It does not retrieve screen contents, messages, passwords, or typed text.

Are external services involved?

Referral and purchase features use pseudonymous identifiers and external services when enabled. See the privacy overview for details.

How can I manage my data?

Manage app selections and permissions in your app or device settings. Resetting local app data does not delete referral records held on the server or erase purchase records. See the privacy policy for details.
